Day to day Itinery
Day 1
After arriving at Phalaborwa Airport and meeting your private MaTakaTaka guide we will drive straight into the world famous Kruger National Park. The park covers a size of 20.000 km2 and is home to 147 mammals, 507 bird species, 114 reptiles, 34 amphibians, 49 species of fish and 336 species of trees. Kruger is South Africa’s biggest national park. We will explore the Northern area of the Park: The Makuleke concession borders Zimbabwe in the North and Mozambique in the East. The concession is not accessible for the normal tourist. The beautiful Fever Tree Forests, the massive, ancient baobab trees & the gorges make this area one of the most beautiful places in South Africa.
Our accommodation for three nights is a stunning lodge right on the banks of the Levuvhu river. We are certain you will also feel the magic of this special place.
Including 4* accommodation in a luxury tented camp with full board, 2 safari activities/day and conservation levy
Day 2 & 3
During the next two days we explore more of the Makuleke concession, either by vehicle or on foot. You will learn more about „Crooks Corner“, the Thulamela culture and with a little bit of luck will get a glimpse of the shy Nyala antelope, elephants and buffalos. We will visit Lanner Gorge, a breath-taking place for a Gin & Tonic as the sun sets! And if we are lucky, we will encounter a leopard on our night drive back to the lodge…
Day 4
After one last safari in the morning through beautiful Makuleke, we continue our journey south through the park to one of the public rest camps in Kruger where we will be spending one night. During our drive we will pass through different vegetation types: mopani thickets, savanna and the fertile valleys of the Shingwedzi and Letaba rivers.

Day 5
We enjoy another morning drive through the park and drive to our next destination: Hoedspruit. Your accommodation for two nights is situated in the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate which boasts a wide variety of animals and is perfectly located to explore the surrounding area. For the remainder of the day you can either relax at your beautiful accommodation or if you wish to stretch your legs your guide will take you on a walk in the reserve where we will most certainly come across a few resident animals like giraffes, zebras, impalas, wildebeests and warthogs.

Day 6
After breakfast we head out to explore the Panorama Route where you get to see spectacular landscapes with impressive rock formations, waterfalls and of course the Blyde River Canyon which is the third largest canyon in the world. If you prefer a more active adventure we suggest the hike along the canyon (3-5hrs, entirely your choice) which offers beautiful views of the Blyde Dam and the “Three Rondavels”. There are also crystal clear natural pools along the way to cool down on a hot day.

Day 7
If time allows with regards to your flight schedule your guide will take you to a nearby animal rehabilitation centre. The centre is home to many of South Africa’s abandoned, injured and poisoned wildlife with the aim to release these animals back into the wild. You will join a guided tour and learn about the problems and the challenges associated with conservation and habitat protection. Should there be enough time left after the tour we can make a detour to the Swadini Nature Reserve where we take a short walk through African Montane Forest and enjoy a walk to a waterfall. Afterwards your MaTakaTaka guide will bring you to the airport in Hoedspruit in time for your flight and then it´s unfortunately already time to say goodbye.
